As of today, over 30% of our customers are using the new VDS Manager and all of the great features that come with it, and over the next couple months we will have every Jumpline.com website updated to include this great new functionality. Below you will find details of all of the great new Value Applications that will be included on our VDS Hosting plans as part of this update.

PHP 5 – PHP is the most popular web-oriented programming language for Linux, and new version 5 offers more features for programmers than ever before. Built in XML support, simplified database access, new support for iterators and exception handling, and enhanced object-oriented programming support mean that you can write PHP applications faster than ever. The VDS Manager will give you the ability to select the newest PHP 5 version, or use PHP 4 for maximum compatibility with older software.

MySQL 5 – The popular MySQL database has also made major strides in speed and ease of use in the new version 5. Support for features previously found in commercial databases, such as triggers and stored routines, combined with major performance enhancements allow your database-driven applications to shine. You will be able to select between the new MySQL 5 or the existing MySQL 3 for maximum compatibility with older software.

Miva Merchant 5 – Jumpline.com has been offering Miva Merchant 5 to new customers since it was released; in a few weeks, users of Miva Merchant 4 will be given the opportunity to upgrade. Miva Merchant 5 adds a simplified control panel and the ability to modify page templates without the use of commercial add-ons.

phpBB – This extremely popular forum software allows you to set up a bulletin board so that others can post and respond to messages right on your website. As a ValueApp, you do not need to worry about installing the frequent security updates. Now you can start building a web community in just one click.

MediaWiki – The MediaWiki package powers the popular Wikipedia website, and will soon be available on Jumpline.com’s hosting plans. With a wiki, your web visitors have the ability to change and update your website – perfect for creating a company intranet, a hobby group website, or a knowledge base of information.

Joomla – Maintaining a large website doesn’t mean dealing with hundreds of HTML files any longer. Joomla is a powerful content management system that uses a database and custom templates to display your site. Just log in to add pages and content, upload images, and modify your site design without having to touch a line of code.

MailMan – MailMan is a web-based replacement for the Majordomo mailing list. You can now manage your mailing list users and messages from the web, and your list users can manage their subscriptions and view message archives right on your website.

SugarCRM – This customer relationship manager allows businesses to track customers, sales, business leads, and all aspects of running a sales-driven business. If your business is looking to grow its reach, SugarCRM combined with your VDS is going to be the perfect match for you.

phpPgAdmin – If you are a PostgreSQL user, you will appreciate the addition of phpPgAdmin. This ValueApp allows you to manage your PostgreSQL databases using a web interface, making application development and database design easier.

Subversion – Subversion is a powerful version control system made for teams of programmers working on the same website. By keeping your website code in a Subversion repository, you can make changes to your site and roll back to a previous version if something goes wrong. Additionally, multiple programmers can work on the same code simultaneously without causing conflicts.

SQLite – This disk-based database requires very little system resources, giving it up to a 10x speed increase over traditional databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL. Plus, the database contents are stored in a single file on the server, making backups and database management a snap.

mod_python – Python programmers will enjoy the addition of mod_python, which allows the use of Python scripts as web applications. Using mod_python, you can connect a mod_python compatable script directly with your web server, speeding up program execution and allowing for more advanced programming techniques.

Ruby – This popular programming language uses a novel, simplified approach to programming, making even the most complex programming statements simple to understand. With Ruby, code is highly reusable, so even the most complex application may only require a small amount of code.

Ruby on Rails Support – Ruby shines as the backend of the extremely popular Ruby on Rails web-based programming language. Writing a database-driven web-based application requires only one line of code, and the simple Ruby syntax means that you can build a fast, easy-to-use site with very little work.

TurboGears Support – With the upcoming enhancements to Python and the addition of mod_python you will be able to utilize the TurboGears web development framework. TurboGears lays out the structure of your website code in Python for you, meaning you do not need to write your own methods for accessing databases and many other common programming tasks.

FastCGI Support – If you have written an application that runs as a CGI script, the upcoming support for FastCGI will supercharge your application performance with only a few additions to your application code.
