Windows Vista:
What's in it for you?
by Jay Dougherty, dpa
It's official. Your next operating system
will be called Windows Vista - assuming you're among the more
than 90 percent of computer users now running some version of
Windows XP or an earlier edition of Windows.
With its recent announcement that it was removing the code name
"Longhorn" from the Windows XP successor that's been
in development for over two years and unveiling the name Windows
Vista, Microsoft has moved one important step closer to preparing
its massive user base for the release of the world's next major
operating system.
Vista, which is being released in beta form now to early testers,
is in many ways a major overhaul of Windows XP, which raises major
questions about what users should expect and what they'll need
to do to prepare for the new operating system before its release
sometime in 2006. How will the interface be different? Will today's
applications run with the new operating system? And will your
computer need to be upgraded? To read

Tech Tips & Tricks
Are you receiving all of the email
that you should be?
We strive to insure that you receive all of our correspondence,
but to be sure, you should always add us to your spam software’s
“whitelist.” The “whitelist” in your email
or spam blocking software is a list of addresses which will never
be blocked or filtered. Most anti-spam software will allow you to
add a sender’s address to the white list; simply add “jumpline.com”
or “@jumpline.com” to the list to prevent any important
messages from being blocked. If you are using a web-based email
service such as Hotmail or Yahoo, use the ‘Safe List’
or ‘Mail Filters’ option to add jumpline.com as a safe
domain or allowed sender. If you are using Jumpline.com's Email
Defense service, be sure to add jumpline.com to your Allow List
under the Allow/Deny tab of the Email Defense manager.
Is your pop-up blocker preventing you from seeing parts of Jumpline.com
or your Customer Manager?
Jumpline.com’s management interfaces, such as the Customer
Manager, are complex web applications that occasionally must use
new windows to maximize the amount of information available to you.
To prevent these new windows from being automatically closed by
your pop-up blocking software, be sure that jumpline.com is listed
on your pop-up blocking software’s list of allowed websites.
If you are using Internet Explorer, simply click the Tools menu
and choose Pop-up Blocker Settings under the Pop-up Blocker submenu,
then enter jumpline.com, www.jumpline.com, my.jumpline.com, ssl.jumpline.com,
and your domain name in the allow list. If you are using Google’s
toolbar with pop-up blocker, simply click the “Pop-ups blocked”
button on the tool bar of your browser when viewing Jumpline.com
to prevent important new windows from being suppressed.
